Judges Education
The Japanese Chin Club of America offers judges education and ringside mentoring at the our national and regional specialty shows. We also send breed mentors to select judging seminars. The Japanese Chin Illustrated Guide to the Standard, beautifully illustrated by Peggy Holladay, is an educational tool designed to assist fanciers, breeders, and judges in their understanding and assessment of desired breed type for the Japanese Chin. It also includes comments on the standard by breeder-judge Sari Brewster Tietjen.
The booklet is available in printed form at $10.00 each, which includes U.S. postage. For other locations, please see options below. You can either mail a check to the treasurer, or order now with PayPal. Select the option for your location and click the Buy Now button.
The Japanese Chin Club of America strives to help produce knowledgeable Club Mentors and AKC Judges. The preservation of our Japanese Chin Standard is paramount and we must encourage our mentors and judges through education. This is a breed that we do not seek to improve but to preserve and protect.
The Japanese Chin Club of America Education Committee sets expectations of excellence on all sides between mentor and mentee.
Communication is key along with establishing a culture among us that allows both mentor and mentee to ask for help or resources. The education committee will maintain an ongoing effort to improve education about our Japanese Chin and its heritage, breed type, and soundness. Our mentors and presenters are encouraged to utilize the resources and knowledge of each other and our committee. We encourage mentors to always feel an open line of communication with the education committee. We can all learn, share knowledge and develop our skills with each other's help. Our breed is counting on us.
